Routers and Firewall

Interconnect different networks. In a LAN environment, routers are used to connect the local network to the internet (LAN to a WAN) or other networks(multiple LANs). They determine the best path for data to travel between networks. They analyze the destination IP addresses of data packets and determine the best path for the packets to reach their destination and can segment a LAN into multiple subnets, allowing for efficient network management and control of traffic flow within the LAN. Many modern routers come with built-in firewall capabilities, which help protect the LAN from unauthorized access, cyber threats, and malicious attacks.
