Readers & Credentials

  1. Proximity Card Readers: These cards contain embedded RFID chips of high-frequency 13.56MHz or magnetic stripes that are read by card readers when held near the reader. These cards are available multi-format such as MIFARE Classic and DESFire. The reader uses RS-485 and Wiegand inputs for wiring.
  2. Proximity Card /PIN Keypad Readers: These readers use both Personal Identification Numbers (PIN) as code access in conjunction with Proximity Card Reader for authentication.
  3. Contactless Smart Card Readers: These readers are advanced credentials that contain integrated circuits for storing and processing cryptographic data for more secure authentication without direct contact necessary. They are used as access and POS for payments such as vending machines and library management.
  4. Key Fobs: Key fobs are small devices that can be attached to keychains. Similar to keycards, utilizing RFID technology for access control.
  5. Mobile Credentials: Smartphones or mobile devices are used as access tokens and transmitted via Bluetooth, NFC, or mobile apps to authenticate users reducing the need for physical cards.
  6. Biometric Credentials: Biometric credentials use unique physical characteristics of individuals for authentication including fingerprint scans, iris scans, facial recognition, palm prints or hand geometry, and voice recognition so highly secure as biometric data is unique to each individual, eliminates the need for physical tokens, and reduces the risk of credential theft.
