Fire Sprinklers
Fire sprinklers are crucial safety products designed to suppress or extinguish fires in buildings by releasing water or other extinguishing agents. These units are composed of various components such as heads, and Backflow Preventer that work together to detect and respond to fires effectively. Each sprinkler head is connected to a network of piping that is filled with water. When a fire causes the temperature around a sprinkler head to rise to a specified level, that individual sprinkler head activates and releases water directly onto the fire. Fire sprinklers can also be classified based on the type of sprinkler heads they use. Here are some common types of fire sprinklers categorized according to their heads:
- Standard Response Sprinklers: These are the most common type of sprinkler heads, with a deflector of pendent, upright, sidewall, and concealed that disperses water in a circular pattern when activated and Connection: 3/8” BSP, 1/2” NPT, and 3/4” NPT used in offices, retail spaces, and residential buildings.
- Quick Response Sprinklers: These sprinklers have a faster response time compared to standard sprinklers, releasing water more quickly after activation with a deflector of pendent, upright, sidewall, and concealed and Connection: 3/8” BSP, 1/2” NPT and 3/4” NPT used in hospitals, nursing homes, and hotels.
- Extended Coverage Sprinklers: These sprinklers have a larger coverage area compared to standard spray sprinklers, allowing for fewer sprinkler heads to cover more space. They are Ideal for areas with high ceilings or open spaces, such as warehouses and atriums.
- Storage Sprinklers: Specifically designed for use in storage areas, these sprinklers are optimized to provide effective coverage for high-piled storage configurations. Commonly used in warehouses and storage facilities to protect goods stored at heights. The two most commonly used types of sprinklers in storage facilities are Early Suppression Fast Response (ESFR): These are highly effective in high-piled storage facilities. These sprinklers are designed to quickly suppress fires by releasing a large volume of water with high velocity. They are specifically engineered to protect warehouses with high ceilings and densely stacked storage, and Dry Sprinkler Systems: These systems are used in areas where freezing is a concern. Water is held back by a valve and is only released into the pipes when a fire is detected. Usually used The pipes are filled with compressed air or nitrogen instead of water.
- Residential Sprinklers: These are smaller and more aesthetically pleasing than standard commercial sprinklers, these heads are designed for use in homes and residential buildings and blend in with the interior décor come with a deflector of pendent, upright, sidewall, and concealed.
- Specialty Sprinklers: These sprinklers are designed for specific applications or environments, such as high-temperature areas, corrosive environments, or areas with unique fire hazards.
